We also provide developers of low- to moderate-income housing with access to financial resources and tax incentives. VHDA has several home mortgages available for active duty and retired military personnel.

 

Grants for Virginia’s Disabled Veterans

Learn how our "Granting Freedom" fund helps Virginia’s disabled veterans pay for ramps, stair chairs, grab bars and other improvements to make their homes more accessible.

These grant funds can pay for modification work to make rental units accessible.

Helps low-income families get on their feet, perhaps break the cycle of homelessness or simply provide a better living arrangement.

Multifamily Financing

Loans for construction, acquisition/rehabilitation, refinance of rental properties and mixed-use properties, including Tax-exempt Bond Financing, Taxable Bond Financing, Mixed-income, Mixed-use with Mixed-income.

 

Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program

The LIHTC program is authorized under Section 42 of the Internal Revenue Code or 1986, and it encourages the development of affordable rental housing by providing owners with a federal income tax credit. The program also serves as an incentive for private investors to participate with developers in the construction and rehabilitation of low-income housing.
